I've come to terms with the fact that this will be my first of many protests in 2017. I've been here before, in the streets, shouting to the point where I thought my voice would give out. Later wondering whether it had made a difference, yet proud that as a Washingtonian I could walk from the White House to the Capitol, representing others across the country that feel the same way as me. This time I saw more faces. And while I wondered if they'd ever spoken out before on our nation's atrocities, I felt a sense of solidarity. I only hope I'll see them again, in the streets, shouting just as loud as before.
